Underpinning the educational programs is the premise that art contents are not automatically understandable, so one of the Moderna galerija's tasks is to provide knowledge and awareness about modern and contemporary art through public programmes such as guided tours and organized opportunities to meet and talk with artists and curators.
The Educational department collaborates with kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, art institutes and other organizations. For a decade and a half we have been systematically working with the youngest generation within the Minimalists' Club workshops, designed to familiarize children with artworks in inventive, interdisciplinary, and interactive ways. In addition to programs relating to the permanent display of the collection and individual exhibitions, targeted at specific interest groups, a lot of emphasis is given to collaborating and networking with collectives, organizations and movements outside the museum, on the basis of reciprocal methods of learning.
