Museum of Contemporary Art

The renovation of the Museum of Contemporary Art building started in November 2009, when the agreement with the contractor for the construction, installation, and fitting works, Gradbeno podjetje Grosuplje d.d., was signed. The building was opened on November 27, 2011, and all the works were finalized in January 2012.
The renovation was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the Operational Program for Strengthening Regional Development Potential 2007-2013.

The Museum of Contemporary Art on Metelkova will house a display of the collection of contemporary art (the national and international Arteast 2000+ collections) and stage related exhibitions. The Museum of Contemporary Art will thus present art that deals with contemporary themes and media, including works that present the tradition of such art from the 1960s onward.
