IMPOSSIBLE RETROSPECTIVE

26 November 2011 - 31 January 2012

AN IMPOSSIBLE RETROSPECTIVE (ACTIVATING THE FUTURE) is the title of both a temporary exhibition and the permanent display of Apolonija Šušteršič?s projects on the ground floor of the MSUM. Working together with MSUM and collaborators on a project of interior design, visual artist and architect Apolonija Šušteršič has developed a concept for activating a part of the space on the ground floor, dedicated to informing the public, presenting connections, and exchanging ideas between the art institution, its visitors, and various local and international agents.

Šušteršič's projects deal with the role of the museum of contemporary art in society. Documentary material presents projects that originated in a variety of unique contexts, a number of them relating also to the history of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Ljubljana and its evolution, with particular focus on some of the more difficult moments and unresolved issues. Together with certain pieces of furniture this creates new circumstances for presenting MSUM's archival material, publications, and collections.

A part of the Impossible Retrospective (Activating the Future) project is also the Depository bookstore..

The project was supported by the Mondriaan Foundation
