"Every man is a curator / Jeder Mensch ist ein Kurator"!

16 June - 30 September 2007
Moderna galerija

Nearly sixty years after it was established, Moderna galerija is to be renovated, and the works start this summer. But before they actually do, the premises will be open and available, one last time, to "artists, curators, critics, students, children, workers - all our visitors and everyone else interested in the future of Moderna galerija to take part in its makeover by becoming members of a 'Society of Independent Curators'."

Over 100 participants have responded to the call. Their projects will be on view every day except Mondays, from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. until the renovation works start.

READING
Igor Zabel entitled his introductory text to the catalogue Territories, Identities, Nets: Slovene Art 1995-2005 simply "Contemporary Art." In it, he describes the phenomena, trends, ways, reasons, and specific cases in contemporary Slovene art. This is a text that none of us involved in producing art or following its developments in Slovenia should pass by.
The exhibition Every Man Is a Curator / Jeder Mensch ist ein Kurator is an opportunity to brush up on the differences between "modern" and "contemporary" art. You are therefore invited to a reading of Igor Zabel's text "Contemporary Art."
