NSK FROM KAPITAL TO CAPITAL, Neue Slowenische Kunst - an Event of the Final Decade of Yugoslavia - International conference

19 - 21 June 2015
Moderna galerija / Museum of Modern Art, Ljubljana

Concept: Zdenka Badovinac and Eda Čufer

Keynote speeker: Boris Groys

Conference participants: Zdenka Badovinac, Barbara Borčić, Eda Čufer, Mladen Dolar, Charles Esche, Anthony Gardner, Marina Gržinić, Lev Kreft, Dejan Kršić, Tomaž Mastnak, Rastko Močnik, Alexei Monroe, Daniel Ricardo Quiles, Igor Vidmar, Alexei Yurchak

NSK from Kapital to Capital is the first retrospective exhibition of the NSK art collective, with a special focus on the transformational decade of the 1980s. In the final decade of the slowly unravelling Yugoslavia, when only lip service was still being paid to its system of socialist self-management, NSK loudly and clearly proclaimed the emperor naked - from Laibach's first poster action in Trbovlje in 1980 to the collective's last coordinated series of projects in the early 1990s, entitled Kapital.

MG: 20th CENTURY / CONTINUITIES AND RUPTURES

Moderna galerija / Museum of Modern Art, Cankarjeva 15

The 20th Century / Continuities and Ruptures exhibition breaks with traditional linearity by introducing the topics of the 20th century avant-gardes and of the art of the Partisan resistance, bringing them into the national history of art on an equal footing with more familiar trends and, as a consequence, casting new light on the latter.
